Original artwork description
This figure was made of earthenware clay and pit fired in charcoals, in 1989, when I lived in the Middle East. It was one of the first pieces I ever made in clay. Since then, it has been mounted on a beautifully polished mahogany wood base. She is surrounded by an all-encompassing ornamental crown/halo protecting a small bird-like deity in her arms. Firing with charcoals was for me a magical experience, the colors on clay came from colorful ground spices, from the local markets.

Earthenware clay, mahogany wood
