December light (2026) Original Watercolour by Darren Carey

is a heartwarming original multimedia painting that beautifully captures the pure innocence, wonder, and nostalgia of childhood winters.
The artwork depicts three young children bundled in colorful coats, looking upward in delight as heavy snowflakes begin to blanket a serene forest path. The background features complex, soft wet on wet watercolor washes that masterfully fade into a hazy, misty woodland, punctuated by a striking, pink and amber glow breaking through the tree line. In beautiful contrast, the crisp textures of the children's heavy knitwear and the thick, tactile falling snow are brought to life using opaque gouache detailing.
This comforting, narrative piece balances cool winter shadows with a radiating golden warmth, making it a perfect statement artwork to bring cozy seasonal charm into any living space, study, or nursery.
