Michelangelo’s David—and the story of David and Goliath—has fascinated me deeply. To me, the story is not simply about physical strength or size, but about courage, intelligence, strategy, and the determination to stand up against something greater than yourself.
This is why I created my David collection, reinterpreting the iconic figure from different perspectives with bold black lines and neon body colors.
In David vs. Goliath, David’s fractured body symbolizes the wounds, struggles, and vulnerability that are an inevitable part of being human. Even the strongest among us can be hurt, shaken, and broken. Yet vulnerability does not make him weak. What defines him is his ability to keep standing despite it.
His body may be fractured, but the arm with which he fights remains unbroken. He still possesses the courage and strength to stand up for himself.
This painting is dedicated to all the heroes—the “Davids”—of their own lives.
