Original artwork description
Two panels face each other across a deep blue ground, each built around a disc. On the left, a gold circle rises behind a pale vertical slab, and a target of white, blue, and gold sits low against stacked boards. On the right, the same elements return rearranged: the large disc now bare wood with a leafed circle set within it, the roundel turned warm, and a column of red, blue, and white rising through the center.
Neither panel repeats the other. They correspond — the way two letters in an exchange hold the same subject from different positions. Shared vocabulary, different sentence.
Gold and copper leaf catch light across both, and the wood is left to show its grain, knots, and split edges beneath the paint.
