Cloudlight is an atmospheric coastal photograph from my Seafoam and Salt series, created on the remote shores of Dingleshowe Beach on Orkney. Soft turquoise water, pale sand and a luminous northern sky come together in this tranquil Scottish seascape, capturing the quiet beauty of the sea at the edge of the islands.

A gentle wave drifts towards the shore, softened by long exposure into a veil of aquamarine and seafoam. Above, low clouds catch the last warmth of the light, their subtle peach and silver tones reflected fleetingly across the wet sand. The restrained palette of aqua blue, warm cream and soft grey gives the photograph an almost painterly quality.

There is a particular stillness to these remote island beaches that I return to again and again. While making Cloudlight, I was drawn to that fleeting moment when the light seems to belong equally to sea and sky, and the landscape becomes quiet, spacious and dreamlike.

With its soft coastal colours and serene atmosphere, Cloudlight brings a sense of light and openness to an interior. It is particularly suited to calm contemporary spaces, coastal interiors and rooms with a natural neutral palette, where its luminous blues and warm sandy tones can create a peaceful focal point.

Printed on beautiful Canson Aquarelle Rag, a museum-quality fine art paper with the subtle texture and character of traditional watercolour paper. Each work is produced in a small limited edition and has a generous white border, individually titled, signed and numbered by me.
