CERTAIN AFTERNOONS NEVER PASS (2015) Original Acrylic Painting by Paolo Scaglioni

The Waiting. Something, or someone, long in coming. Perhaps it is one of those winter afternoons when darkness falls as early as four, yet the day seems to stretch on endlessly.
But here, those who wait are not people. They are three amphorae, with anthropomorphic forms—somehow more human than the humans themselves. They stand motionless, embodying the stillness of waiting itself.
As in my other paintings, there are no shades or hesitations. Every form is defined with precision, each element rendered clearly and decisively. I seek to convey emotion directly, without filters or mediation, allowing the image to speak in its most immediate and essential form.
That is the goal: to make the feeling unmistakable.
