This photograph was taken during my visit to the fortified city of Carcassonne, in the middle of the tourist season, in the summer of 2025.

A sepia-toned, atmospheric night shot of the medieval castle of the City of Carcassonne in France. The image is framed by a dark stone archway, with heavy chains hanging down on the right side. The castle walls, constructed from rough-hewn stones, are illuminated, highlighting their texture and the crenellated battlements. A conical tower with a pointed roof and smaller turrets rises above the main structure. The dark night sky provides a stark contrast to the illuminated stonework, creating a sense of mystery and historical grandeur.

Printed on 100% cotton paper—free of acid and optical brighteners (Fine Art print on Red River Palo Duro Softgloss Rag 315 gsm paper) using Epson pigment inks. The paper measures 25 in x 17 in, and the image measures 23.4 in x 13.2 in. Consequently, the image is surrounded by a margin.
