Watching twilight settle over the Cornish coast near Cape Cornwall, where the iconic Brisons rocks loom out at sea. With 'Brisons at Dusk', I was captivated by that precise moment when dramatic sunbeams burst through heavy, atmospheric evening clouds, casting brilliant streaks of light across the quiet ocean surface.

In this piece, I worked with a subtle, muted color palette of soft pearlescent whites, silvery greys, slate blues, and deep obsidian shadows along the coastal foreground. The focus is entirely on the contrast between the dark, silhouetted headland and the dramatic, heavenly light breaking through the cloud cover to illuminate the horizon. Soft blending and feathered brushwork give the light rays a gentle, luminous warmth, capturing the peaceful, meditative mood of a Cornish evening.

The coastal light in West Cornwall is endlessly inspiring, but dusk has a special kind of stillness. I wanted to capture that peaceful, majestic feeling of watching light pierce through the dark sky over the sea.
