Original artwork description
This summer in Europe brought record heatwaves and wildfires in places that rarely see them. Trees responded by turning rust-colored weeks early, shedding leaves to hold onto water.
I watched this on evening walks through a nearby park — stressed trees on one side of the path, and further along, a rose bush still blooming fully in the same heat. The roses in this canvas carry that same defiance: dense, rust-orange, painted against a sky still cold-blue before sunset.
Nature keeps adapting whether we notice or not. Maybe the least we owe it is a little more care.
