Beaulieu River, New Forest (2025) Original Oil Painting by Peter Frost
61 x 39 x 3cm (framed) / 50 x 28cm (actual image size)
£800
Original artwork description
The Beaulieu River is mainly viewed as a seawater estuary which flows into the Solent. This painting is of the upper freshwater Beaulieu that rises near Lyndhurst in the New Forest. It is a particular favourite of mine because it is very wild and natural. To the modern eye it is untidy and might look a mess of fallen timber and branches. However, this stream is rich in biodiversity and interest with ferns and mosses growing from ancient trees. This is what I have tried to capture in this painting. The frame is a traditional gold frame with off white slip which I think suits the painting.
