The hirola is one of the world’s rarest antelopes, driven to the brink of extinction largely by human-induced habitat loss and degradation. It is the last surviving species of its genus, representing a distinct evolutionary lineage millions of years old. If the hirola disappears, an entire branch of antelope evolution will disappear with it.


In this series of small-scale paintings, I explore the disappearance of rare species threatened by human activity.

Through this series, I reflect on habitat destruction, overproduction, excessive consumption, and the increasing pressure human activity places on the natural world. The works are not intended as illustrations, but as quiet reminders of species that could disappear before most of us ever become aware of their existence.
