Commissions.
I make commissions often when a piece has been sold and there is still a lot of interest in it. The commission I make is not exactly “one of a kind.” I do all my work using computer drawings I make as guides. Much of the sculpture’s feeling comes from how I interpret the drawing as I bend and weld the wire. If you are interested in having me make a wire wall sculpture for you, let me know. I’ll make it and publish it. If you like what I’ve done, buy the piece in the usual way from this site taking the advantages and incentives they provide. By the way, if you would like to further personalize the work (like incorporating facial features, hair style, a wedding ring, etc.) let me know. I’ll do what I can.

This is a 34 X 16-inch wire wall sculpture of a girl walking on the beach. It is made out of 12 gauge (about 3 mm thick once powder coated) low carbon steel wire that I bend by hand and weld, then powder coat gloss black** with an extremely durable, weather resistant material that makes it suitable for outdoor installation. It is easily installed temporarily on finishing nails or permanently on wall anchors according to instructions I provide. The piece is signed with a thinner wire. I make wire wall sculptures for public, commercial, and residential locations. The wire pieces are the final step in a simplification process that starts with a photograph or group of photographs. I make and remake a digital line drawing to emphasize only the essence and feel of the subject, then, like the poet who reviews every word, I re-examine every turn and curve as I bend the wire into a sculpture. The final installation, a solid line in space in front of a moving shadow, has scale enough to suit a large wall without dominating the room. My work has been purchased by collectors from all over the world. *I have made 3 sculptures using drawing number 3082. Each is identical except for very minor, nearly imperceptible differences, -- because I make each one “by hand.”

Materials used:

9 gauge steel wire that is powder coated gloss black
