BARNA SUNSET

The sunset is gone. The feeling remains.

Original abstract painting inspired by a sunset experienced from Montjuïc, Barcelona. A layered composition of green, violet, yellow and white, where improvised calligraphic gestures transform the memory of a fleeting moment into an unreadable visual language.
What stayed with me was not simply the image of the sunset, but the feeling of standing there and watching the colours slowly change. I wanted to translate that experience into movement, colour and gesture rather than reproduce the landscape itself.

Deep greens and violet tones create the atmosphere of the evening, while layers of yellow, white and warmer colour emerge through the composition like fragments of fading light. Across the surface, calligraphic marks move between clarity and disappearance. They resemble letters from an unknown alphabet, but they are deliberately impossible to read.
I work without preparatory sketches. Each mark responds to the previous one, allowing the composition to develop through improvisation. In this painting, the calligraphic gestures became a way of holding onto a fleeting moment: the sunset is no longer there, but its emotional trace remains.

For me, the work is therefore less about depicting a place and more about remembering a feeling. The writing does not describe Barcelona or tell a specific story. It creates a visual language that each viewer can experience differently.

Barna Sunset is a painting about light, memory and the transformation of an experience into something that can remain.
