In this piece, I aimed to capture the first burst of light on an autumn sunrise.
The painting is slightly textured and catches the light, making the colours burst and glow.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the skies and sea - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal.
The sunbeams glisten and are developed by layering and lifting the paint, to find previous hues and tones laid beneath, building depth, movement and highlights.
