Original artwork description
Angel Flight
Angel Flight was created from the idea of a fleeting presence – something powerful that cannot be held, but can still be felt. In this abstract composition, deep blue and turquoise tones rise from a dark, strongly textured ground, while a warm golden movement seems to sweep across the canvas like the trace of a wing in motion.
Layer upon layer of acrylic paint and pronounced structures create an almost sculptural surface. Cracks, lines and irregular marks remain visible, giving the painting the feeling of something shaped by time. Above the darker depths, the lighter upper area opens like mist, sky or distant light. The golden passage between these two worlds became the heart of the painting for me – a symbol of movement, transition and quiet strength.
Angel Flight is not meant to depict an angel literally. It is about the moment when something unseen seems suddenly close: a memory, a thought, a feeling, perhaps simply the sense that there is more around us than we can see.
The intense blues and petrol tones give the painting depth and calm, while the warm gold creates a striking contrast and changes beautifully with the surrounding light. The black floater frame gives the work a strong, elegant finish and allows the textured surface and luminous colours to take centre stage.
