This painting took a long time to do, and it shows in the surface, which is built in layers, memory of view over memory of view, a set of towers in the distance, the medieval town of San Gimignano in Tuscany. In the haze in the morning it's strangely reminiscent of Manhattan in a way. A moment that we never had together.
