I’ve always loved a good story and I try to make paintings that are filled with narrative. I also try to include layers of symbolism and meaning, sometimes with a little humor mixed in.

Much of my catalog consists of work painted in a highly figurative style, largely in oil on wood panel. I often focus on imagery that includes paintings within paintings, reflections, meta and recursive imagery, and messages hidden in shadows. I’m interested in conveying the interaction between a painting’s main subject and elements around that subject. Whether it’s a shadow that does not match the object casting it, wind that appears to move objects in a painting, or a person breaking from one pictorial space to another, there’s some aspect of movement or interaction.

Some pieces in my portfolio explore the play between dimensions; others alter reality just slightly—but hopefully enough to make one pause, look again, and realize that there’s a little more to them.
