Intertwined (2026) Original Oil Painting by Teresa Pereira

This was my first official painting of 2026, finished during the height of a snowy winter month so I painted as I looked out at the snowy ground and trees of New York.

“Intertwined” is painted in oil on 24” x 36” beechwood panel. It’s one of my larger pieces and I lived in it for a while. I loved painting the tiled floor, along with the leaves that fell on it.

I was interested in conveying how shadows are like artwork, and can "intertwine" with actual art to become part of it. All the elements connect and intertwine in some way, including the shadows on the snow in the landscape outside the window, and the leaves on the tiled floor.
