Ryan Louder paints dreams in real time.

Close to one thousand originals sold over a career spanning more than ten years. Independent forensic visual analysis of 873 of his paintings identifies altered-state markers — boundary dissolution, self-luminous forms, figure-ground collapse — in roughly seventy percent of the body of work.

He works from the hypnagogic threshold, the seam between waking and dreaming. An NHS diagnosis of narcolepsy with REM-intrusion hallucinations, confirmed at Guy’s and St Thomas’, keeps that state accessible while he paints. The canvas is the record of what is there.

Also a Royal College of Music trained composer and multi-platinum songwriter published with Universal Music Publishing Group (UK). Currently completing a novel, The Simulator, and a feature screenplay, Second Chance.
