  • Biography
    I'm always engaged with art, even when I am not creating anything; sooner or later it comes out, and that is what makes the creative process so fascinating. My motto is: “The horizon is infinite; only in your mind does it have a limit.” I give a contemporary twist to classic themes, and ideas also emerge from the creative process itself. The paintings are surprising in its use of colour, texture and materials. With my idiosyncratic use of materials—preferably recycled—and unique colour palette, I imbues my work with individuality and recognisability. At first glance, the works are highly diverse, they range from figurative to abstract, but if you look closely: true Mieke’s. There are no fixed genres, styles or themes, though there is a common thread: making the future of the world a better place for one another, together, from person to person and from person to nature. How wonderful it is when things in life take a positive turn. Optimistic works with a deeper layer of meaning: glow & growth.
