Biography
She works across a range of media including acrylic, ink, collage and water colour.
'I love to mix media to create different effects in my work. I like to experiment combining say printing with collage or watercolour with ink in my quest to create something new and original'
Her work is always colourful. 'I love colour and see so many different colours in the landscape - I find it very difficult to work with a subtle palette - I guess that's just my style'.
Julia finds inspiration all around her. 'We live on the edge of the largest wild flower meadow in the UK - Portholme meadow is a riot of colour in the Summer and a lake in Winter (forming a flood plain to the Great Ouse). There is always something to paint.'
Inspiration also comes from holidays in Yorkshire, Scotland and Devon and Cornwall.
In addition to landscape painting, Julia works as an illustrator and designer. She has a large portfolio of published work appearing on greetings cards, puzzles, homeware and cross stitch kits.
Julia is happy to work to commission and consider offers on any piece of work and will ship internationally.
