About Jeremy Maronpot

  • Biography
My drive to create stems from a fascination with the dual nature of metal: its apparent permanence and its surprising fluidity. I consider myself a metalsmith rather than a metalworker because I don’t just cut and join material; I move and reshape it, stretching and forming it as if it were clay. This process allows me to create biomorphic, tactile forms that feel grown rather than constructed, blending centuries-old techniques like copper repoussé and forging with a contemporary, organic aesthetic. I have been dedicated to this craft since the late 1990s, earning a BFA in Metal Design and refining my skills under artists Andrew Preiss and Alvin Frega. As traditional metalworking methods become increasingly rare in a world of mass production, I am driven to keep these 'hands-on' techniques alive through original, one-of-a-kind sculptures and wall art. I want to sell on Artfinder to connect with a global community that specifically values authentic, handmade craftsmanship. My work is designed for durability and detail, and I am looking for a professional platform that mirrors those standards while allowing me to share my unique process—from raw sheet metal to finished patina—with collectors who appreciate the story behind the object.
