Yosemite Red (2003) Photograph by Gary Moger

60.96 x 60.96 x 0.25cm (unframed) / 58.42 x 58.42cm (actual image size)

£750

Yosemite, California. Late evening, August 2003.

The day is almost done.

The woodsmoke from the controlled burns drifts through the trees. The sky has turned — that deep, extraordinary teal bleeding down into warm amber at the horizon, and just visible through the pine silhouettes, one last glowing red peak catching the final light of the day.
Gary sat with this. No rush. No agenda. Just the Hasselblad, the landscape, and the slow realisation that something remarkable was happening in the sky above him.
The square format is no accident — this is a Hasselblad image, medium format film, the grain visible in the print, the deep black of the tree silhouettes anchoring that luminous sky. It belongs on a wall. A large wall.

Shot on a Hasselblad with Kodak film, printed on Hahnemühle Bamboo archival paper. Full frame, never cropped, exactly as it was.

Each print is made entirely by hand in Gary's own studio. Every stage, from camera to finished print, is carried out by Gary himself. Never outsourced. Always personal.

Materials used:

Hasselblad camera, Kodak portrait VC film, Hahnemuhle Bamboo Archival paper
