Yosemite, California. August 2003.

Shot on film with my Leica.

I love this place. Ansel Adams helped fuel my obsession. I slept at Camp 4 and thought I was a climber until I reached the bottom of El Capitan and looked up at its fairytale height.

The view felt huge, open and still — somehow heavy and light at the same time. Untethered. I wonder if birds feel like that.

I could smell woodsmoke from the controlled fires on the forest floor, mixed with the lovely scent of Scots pine.

A note on process

Every print I sell is made in my own studio, carefully checked for quality before being packed for shipping. I use plastic-free packaging.

After years of experimenting, I have found that Hahnemühle Photo Rag archival paper offers the tonal range and finish I want for my photographs.

Materials: Leica M6 camera, Kodak Portra VC film, Hahnemühle Photo Rag archival paper.

Limited edition of 40, signed and numbered, with a certificate of authenticity.
