This painting was inspired by yarrow - a plant that is native to Britain, and thrives in many different climates and soil conditions. Yarrow comes in many different colours, and this one has buttery, yellow-tinted flowers.

In old English, yarrow is sometimes called “thousand-leaf” or “milfoil.” That name translates from its Latin species name, Achillea millefolium: mille means “thousand” and folium means “leaf.” It describes yarrow’s finely divided, feathery leaves.

This painting was created using textured impasto techniques, giving the surface depth and texture. Delicate ink drops introduce detail, and gold leaf embellishment adds visual intrigue.

Painted on a deep canvas, and measuring 20x40 inches, the original artwork neatly wraps around the edges.

Materials used:

Acrylic paint, ink, gold leaf
