I was interested in capturing the quiet mood of the countryside rather than creating a literal representation. The simplified forms and luminous colours give the work a semi-abstract quality with a gentle naïve character.

I painted this piece in oil mixed with cold wax medium on textured canvas, building up layers to create depth, softness, and a tactile sense of the landscape. The yellow moon acts as a calm focal point against the expansive blue sky, evoking the stillness of evening in the County.
