DESCRIPTION
The painting "Yellow in Red" is a profound exploration of dualism, wholeness, and the fragmentation of our perception. As part of the conceptual series "Halves", this artwork transforms a visually exquisite still life into an intellectual game with space. A ruby glass holding daffodils is split in half and placed on the opposite edges of the canvas, deliberately disrupting traditional pictorial boundaries.
This technique creates an effect of continuity or a "looped" world. To perceive the object as a unified whole, the viewer is compelled to step beyond the physical frame of the canvas, connecting the scattered fragments within their own mind. The divided chalice becomes a metaphor for reality itself, which we are often only able to perceive in parts as we search for connections between disconnected events and phenomena.
The color palette - a dynamic contrast between life - affirming yellow (the flowers) and deep, rich red (the glass and the ornament) - amplifies a sense of inner tension. The daffodils, leaning across the entire central space of the composition, seem to strive to overcome this void and reunite the two halves into a single entity.
In this context, the graphic line of colored dots in the foreground takes on crucial significance. It serves as a direct instrument for "dissecting" the space. This is a symbolic line of rupture, a cutting edge that slices through the moment, leaving a philosophical question open: does something divided in half still remain a single whole? The artwork masterfully reflects on the illusory nature of boundaries, demonstrating that the true picture of the world is always assembled within ourselves.
