Wildfire (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Andy Taylor

By the time I came to paint this one, the summer had properly taken hold. Everything felt dry and charged, like the whole landscape was one spark away from catching. I wanted to capture that energy directly, the sense of something moving fast and impossible to contain.

Wildfire is the most physical painting of the three. I worked quickly, pulling pink and red across a base of gold and deep orange in a single diagonal sweep, the same gesture I imagine a wildfire would make if you could paint its path across a hillside. There was very little planning in this one. It came together in the moment, which feels right for what it is trying to show.

This painting completes my Burnt Skies collection, sitting alongside Firestorm and Euphoria. The three works were all painted during the same long hot summer, each one taking a different angle on heat and light, but Wildfire is the one with the most movement, the one that feels like it is still travelling across the canvas.

Painted in acrylic on canvas, 60 x 80 cm, and presented in a black matt floating frame so it is ready to hang straight away.
