I wanted to capture the explosive power, speed, and imbalance of a split second in rodeo action. Rather than telling a complete story, I focused on the most dramatic instant—the rider thrown off balance, the horse twisting in motion, and its mane flying through the air. I used loose, expressive brushwork and bold contrasts of deep reds, blacks, and a luminous turquoise background. Scraped textures, splattered paint, and partially exposed layers preserve the spontaneity of the painting process, combining the rugged energy of the American West with a contemporary sense of freedom.
