white tree (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by lucia dibi

In this painting, a leafless tree with a sculptural bark occupies the center of the composition, rooted on a geometric black-and-white tiled floor. The surrounding space is built by two walls meeting at a corner: one ochre, with a small window, the other intense cobalt blue. At the top, a black band interrupts both, cutting the architectural logic of the space and suspending the scene in an undefined time.
The subject originates from a photograph taken in a Milanese courtyard, where a white tree sculpture stood against a historic facade. The digital phase allowed the isolation, simplification and reinvention of chromatic and spatial relationships: the architectural space is reconstructed, not reproduced.
The materiality is concentrated in the trunk, rendered with acrylics and sand in dense layering that conveys the tactile sense of the bark. The white of the trunk dialogues with the decorative floor, while the blue and ochre build a warmth that the black, deliberately, interrupts.
The painting is mounted on canvas, ready to hang, and includes a certificate of authenticity.
