- “Wedding in ink”
Original artwork description
This original ink on paper drawing, belongs to my Bride Series, within the ongoing Sculptural Drawings body of work. Energetic gestural linework, a young bride stands formally in a long, flowing wedding gown and veil, her gaze direct and quietly intense. The voluminous dress and delicate veil are transformed into swirling almost architectural forms that seem to vibrate with in er energy. The more heavy scratching ink strokes create a tactile, carved quality,- giving the figure a monumental sculptural weight, while retaining a sense of fragility and movement.
This work explores themes of ceremony, identity and transformation.
Influenced by the raw intensity of Egon Schiele’s figure studies.
