We Are One (But Forgetting) (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Grâce Pégéron

This one started with a shape: two black forms that used to move together and don't quite anymore. I painted them before I understood why.

The line about light and forgetting came after - my mind's attempt to catch up with what my hand had already done.
I didn't set out to paint humans forgetting the divine. I set out to paint two shapes that used to fit. The meaning showed up uninvited, the way it usually does.

What makes this one different for me is the pale ground - almost gold, almost nothing - and a small blue mark on the left that refuses to be ignored. It's the one part of the painting that still knows what the rest forgot.

I don't paint to illustrate a feeling. I paint until the feeling shows up on its own.
