Vortex (2026) Photograph by Ronald Anthony
81 x 121 x 1cm (framed) / 80 x 120cm (actual image size)
£7,345
Artwork description
Vortex is another abstract interpretation of the same helical staircase featured in The Portal, this time photographed with a wider lens to reveal more of the structure’s sweeping geometry. My intention was to amplify the sense of height and create a deeper visual pull, allowing the staircase to spiral dramatically toward the central skylight.
By composing the staircase so that it leads the eye upward into the light - paired with the children playing above - I wanted to evoke the sensation that they were being drawn into a vortex. Their presence adds a subtle narrative tension, reinforcing the illusion of upward motion and the surreal pull of the architectural form.
This piece is printed directly onto premium Aluminium Dibond, selected for its rigidity, longevity, and immaculate surface, which is perfect for deep tone black and white images. It is finished in an elegant 10mm aluminium Artbox frame to give the piece a modern, clean, sculptural presence.
All of my limited-edition works are printed by Whitewall, who are a premier, multi-award winning photo lab based near Cologne, Germany. They specialise in high-end, gallery-standard photo prints and wall art.
