Vase Composition XIV’25 (2025) Original Relief by Milena Paladino
44 x 54 x 3cm (framed)
£1,305.52
Original artwork description
Vase Composition XIV’25 articulates a refined exploration of still life as a spatial and material phenomenon, where form is distilled to its essential presence and surface becomes a site of quiet transformation.
The composition is structured through a restrained interplay of line and volume. Two vessels emerge as archetypal forms—reduced, elongated, and suspended within an open field of natural linen. Their contours, traced with measured fluidity, do not merely define objects, but construct a rhythm that guides the viewer’s perception across the surface.
Executed through the punch needle technique, the work develops as a low relief. Wool and alpaca fibers accumulate into a tactile topography, where variations in density and direction create subtle modulations of light and shadow. This shifting surface resists fixity, inviting a temporal mode of viewing in which the artwork evolves with movement and illumination.
The linen ground remains active and visible, its organic irregularities and tonal nuances functioning as an integral component of the composition. The contrast between the structured geometry of the base and the softness of the fiber introduces a calibrated tension—balancing order and imperfection.
Rooted in a sensibility aligned with wabi-sabi and contemporary material practices, Vase Composition XIV’25 emphasizes authenticity, restraint, and the expressive potential of natural materials.
Collected by interior designers and used in luxury hotels, Milena Paladino work extends beyond the domestic scale to inhabit carefully curated architectural spaces. It operates not as decoration, but as a quiet anchor—establishing balance, depth, and presence within the environment. Selected placements include:
