In Vase Composition VIII’25, the traditional still life is distilled into a quiet meditation on form, material, and presence. Familiar vessels—a bottle, a pot, a bowl—are reduced to their essential outlines, suspended within a textured field that shifts subtly with light and perspective.

Executed in punch needle embroidery using alpaca, wool, and linen, the work operates at the threshold between image and object. The surface is not merely decorative but topographical: a woven landscape where density, rhythm, and fiber direction generate a living interplay of shadow and depth.

The restrained palette of warm neutrals—beige, sand, and soft brown—anchors the composition within a contemporary sensibility aligned with Japandi and wabi-sabi aesthetics. Here, imperfection is not corrected but embraced; the irregularities of the linen ground remain visible, asserting the authenticity of the material and the hand.

Rather than depicting stillness, the work invites duration. As light moves across the surface, the composition subtly transforms, encouraging a slower, more attentive mode of viewing. In this sense, the piece exists not only as an image, but as a spatial presence—an object that inhabits and quietly shapes its environment.

Positioned between textile tradition and contemporary abstraction, Vase Composition VIII’25 reflects an ongoing investigation into how minimal forms can carry emotional weight, and how material can become a language of calm, balance, and introspection.
