Before you are Two Vases. A semi-abstract still life, executed in acrylic on specialist painting paper.
This is a piece for those who appreciate contemporary art and an unconventional take on familiar objects. Two vases — one elongated, reminiscent of an ancient Greek amphora, the other squat and almost cylindrical — appear to float in a space devoid of familiar coordinates. The forms are discernible but refuse to submit to strict geometry, leaving room for the imagination.
The colour palette is captivating: deep violet, purple and wine tones interweave with cool grey-blue hues. The texture of the work is multi-layered — horizontal strokes, reminiscent of either fabric or a cross-section of stone, create a sense of depth and movement. And in the lower part of the composition, delicate graphic lines unexpectedly appear — spirals and curls that lend the piece a sense of playfulness and lightness.
