Treasure Ship (2023) Original Oil Painting by Marilyn Fox

This painting began as an intuitive abstract piece. As it so often happens, shapes and forms reveal themselves and begin a narrative, or become like the first line of a poem. These forms and shapes became a ship, a ladder, and a lock. The gold paint became seductive to me, and became a story of its own.
The brushstrokes are varied and expressive, with some areas showing intricate details and others more loosely rendered. The arrangement of shapes feels dynamic, yet balanced, with a subtle rhythm that guides the viewer’s eye across the canvas. The balance between geometric structure and organic shapes reflects thoughtful composition, allowing for a sense of movement without chaos.
