Thug Life (2016) Linocut by Billie Josef

In a carpark in Holloway a gang of starlings were claiming the scraps and crumbs from the floor. I crouched down to take a quick pic with my phone and they bundled together, one moving towards me with the others gathered behind him, their necks out and confident strutting claws. Getting the ‘attitude' of the birds was the fun part of this print, which remains one of my favourites. The cars appear to be almost floating behind them which reflected the odd angle I took the picture from, down on the floor between cars.
