This Way Out (2026) Photograph by Steven Irwin

This Way Out explores the psychological tension between the individual and the modern metropolis. Through layered architectural photography, distressed textures, graffiti and fragments of documentary text, the city becomes a landscape of confinement, decay and uncertainty. A handwritten warning, embedded within the urban fabric, hints at a darker reality beneath the surface. Blurring the boundaries between urban photography and visual storytelling, the work considers the city as both a monument to civilisation and a system from which we seek escape.
