This painting explores the idea of identity and the many layers that form a human presence. Two overlapping profiles create a sense of duality — the outer silhouette suggests a clear, defined self, while the softer face within appears fragile and shifting, almost dissolving into light and texture.

I was inspired by the way memory and perception reshape how we see ourselves and others. The portrait becomes less about a specific individual and more about the experience of existing between different states of being: inner and outer, past and present, clarity and uncertainty.

Oil on canvas allowed me to create smooth transitions of color and subtle transparency in the surface of the face. The soft textures contrast with the strong outline of the profile, emphasizing the tension between structure and vulnerability.

Through this work I hope viewers reflect on the complexity of identity — how a person can contain multiple versions of themselves at once.
