Original artwork description:

On April 21, 2022, I placed the first stroke in this work, and on April 21, 2023, the last. It happened accidentally, but I believe that there are no accidents. The backstory to it was created a couple of years ago, but then it had a completely different emotional message.

The spring of last year carried with it a piercing fear and a sense of vulnerability. It seemed like the world was crumbling, and darkness enveloped everything around us.

At that time, I keenly felt the desire to protect my loved ones and to have someone protect me. To hide behind someone who would shelter me from the hurricane that swept everything and everyone in its path like a massive rock.

That's when this painting was born. I started it in one breath, but I couldn't finish it. The canvas was still permeated with anxiety and the feeling of darkness, into which you enter and seem to drown. But I knew that the time would come, and I would feel the way out. I would feel the light and warmth.

This unfinished painting hung on the wall in my bedroom, opposite my bed. I met her gaze every morning, and every evening I fell asleep looking at her. And recently, I felt that the painting was calling me. It was time to move forward.

I took it down from the wall and returned it to the easel, as it was last spring. When I finished working on it, I realized that there was no longer any fear in it. Even the timid puppy, snuggling up to the older dog, was more concerned about encountering a new and unexplored world than about the danger looming over it.

And the horse suddenly started to smile. He probably did it before, but he was so distant and cold that there was no sense of security around him. Now he is a kind and strong friend, imbued with sunlight.

This painting was called "Protective" all year long, but today I suddenly realized that its name is "Talisman" because the first name was about the role of the horse in the painting. And now all three participants are inextricably linked, and it is they who together give me the feeling of safety and peace. And they are the "talisman" because every strength needs its weakness.

And let the "Talisman" bring to anyone who lets it into their life a deep sense of protection and balance.
