The Ride (2026) Original Clay Sculpture by Izabel Nemechek

Contemporary ceramic sculpture. Finished with coloured slips and glazes. Fired in an electric kiln at 1065°C.

A small, playful rider on a rather unusual horse.

I like the idea of a horse that doesn't quite look like a horse anymore. It has wheels, a heavy body and a slightly awkward, almost toy-like character. The rider, in his colourful patchwork clothes and pointed hat, seems completely at ease.

The sculpture is handmade in white clay. I have kept much of the surface texture visible, including the small irregularities that come with working by hand. For me, they are part of the character of the piece.
