The Original Koi Pool (2024) Original Oil Painting by Lisa Timmerman

78.8 x 78.8 x 4.8cm (framed)

2 Artist Reviews

£2,600

As seen in Timmerman’s 2024 solo exhibition ‘Flow’, this large original oil painting captures a precious moment in time, a sunlit koi fish pond the artist encountered in Myanmar in 2016. The artist worked to portray the contrast between the fragmented reflections on the water's surface and the muffled serenity beneath, mirroring the noise and demands of modern life in the face of our desire for peace.

The artwork tackles the challenge of capturing both the energy and textures observed in the pond, creating a sense of looking down at the water whilst also being submerged within it.

Experimenting with oil paint and cold wax medium, Timmerman utilised various tools to translate her experience into a visual dialogue with the viewer. This artwork invites you to contemplate the beauty and complexities of our world, both from above and from within.

This piece is framed and ready to hang.
