The Optimist painting is an abstarcted response to the nature walks that I take with my dogs. Back in the studio when I paint, I use the views from the walks as a starting point, I recollect where I have been, how it made me feel and my paintings take on the space that is between the reality and my daydreams. I hope the viewer can get absorbed into the depth of the paintings and draw their own emotions from the piece.
