Original artwork description
The Next Crossing
Oil on canvas, 20 x 20 in, Framed and ready to hang
The Next Crossing captures that suspended moment of moving through a city at night, when headlights, wet pavement, and passing figures begin to dissolve into one another. A lone figure in an orange cap waits at the curb, caught in the pause between one crossing and the next, while the city beyond becomes a haze of color and movement.
Rather than describing a specific place, the painting is about how a place stays with us. Details are deliberately allowed to disappear, leaving just enough information for the viewer to complete the scene — a painting that feels remembered rather than observed, a familiar moment caught somewhere between where we've been and where we're going.
Part of my ongoing American Light series, exploring nocturnal city scenes with a cinematic, atmospheric touch. This piece arrives ready to hang.
