The Nest (2024) Screenprint by Francis Stanton

Tucked up inside a small pine tree in the Japanese Garden in the Chicago Botanic Garden was a small nest. I liked how the nest fit comfortably on the branches but was partly hidden in the boughs. The bark texture was first done in linocut and then converted to a silkscreen to make it easier to print.

This artwork is hand printed from a silkscreen using photo stencils on archival printmaking paper, using water-based inks. 9 colors. Maximum image size: 9" x 12" Overall paper size: 11" x 15." This edition is limited to 17 copies, and each print is numbered, titled and signed by the artist. Each print is considered an original, and can vary slightly from the others. 2024
