The last glimpse (2026) Original Oil Painting by Ulyana Korol

There is a very short moment at sunset when the sun has almost disappeared, yet its presence can still be felt across the water. This was the moment that inspired The Last Glimpse, painted from my memories of the evening light I experienced in Mallorca.

I wanted the painting to feel quiet and almost weightless. Only a small fragment of the sun remains visible, while its warm pink and crimson light dissolves into a soft, pastel sea of blue, lavender and silver. I used layered oil paint and horizontal palette-knife marks to create a broken, reflective surface where the light seems to linger and disappear at the same time.

For me, this original seascape is about that delicate space between presence and absence – the last moment before daylight becomes memory. It is a painting I hope brings a sense of stillness, warmth and quiet contemplation into the space where it lives.
