‘The intermission’ is not necessarily a morbid and pessimistic painting. The piece describes a gentle, almost therapeutic, beauty and melancholy: a celebration of our short lives and what our senses often have the fortune to witness. Death is commonality amongst us, a unifier, and its mere presence enhances and elevates joyful moments and memories.
