Not everyone who leaves the ground is flying. Some are just holding on to something heavier than themselves.
The Day She Left the Ground is an original acrylic painting on board, part of my ongoing Australian landscape work. It began the way these paintings always do, with a pour I don't control, then the trees, the cockatoos and the figures worked in loosely around wherever it wanted to go. The golds and yellows carry the warmth of the day, and she hangs there just above her own shadow, somewhere between leaving and staying.
Painted on MDF board with artist-quality acrylics. Certificate of authenticity included. Ships worldwide direct from my studio in Brisbane, Australia.
