There are people who come into your life, and suddenly the ground beneath you feels optional. Some loves do not just lift your spirits, they lift the whole of you clean off the earth.
You've Got Me Floating is an original acrylic painting on board, 30 x 20cm, part of my ongoing series The Middle Country. It began the way these paintings always do, with a loose, accidental ground, half accident and half intention, made somewhere in the middle where the paint and I meet. Out of that ground came a sky of deep pink and gold, cockatoos rising through it, and two figures drifting hand in hand above a landscape that no longer needs to hold them.
I paint the things that mean something to me: my family, held in the figures and the birds, moving through a glowing, imagined Australian landscape. This one is about the particular kind of love that changes gravity itself, the kind that makes standing on the ground feel like a choice rather than a rule.
Painted with artist quality acrylics on MDF board. Ready to hang. Certificate of authenticity included. Ships worldwide direct from my studio in Brisbane, Australia.
